Statement from The Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association Board of
Directors regarding the allegations against Jerry Sandusky, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz.

To all,

 

We on the board of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association (aka Nashville Penn Staters) are deeply saddened to hear of the allegations against Jerry Sandusky, Tim Curley and Gary Schultz. If the allegations are proven true, these actions are reprehensible and run counter to virtues associated with any institution of higher learning.

 

We share our shock and outrage with the rest of the Penn State family, yet we do not presume to speak for all of the Middle Tennessee area alumni. Our alumni contribute to the success of this chapter and the larger Penn State Alumni Association, and we respect their individual opinions on this and every matter concerning our Alma Mater.

 

We still maintain a strong faith and belief in our university and the judicial process, and that there are qualified people in place to make certain that the truth comes out. This is a very emotionally-charged case, and we are as troubled as anyone about these allegations. With that said, we are still a part of the Penn State family and hope that others can view these allegations as separate from our university as a whole.

 

We will continue to follow the news of this case and do not have any additional information on the subject than what is reported in the media or on live.psu.edu. We support both Penn State University and the legal system in getting to the truth of the matter as quickly as possible.

 

Again, we express our disappointment and sadness in hearing the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with all parties involved in this horrible situation.
